The Joy of Eid in Exile... and a Longing That Never Fades for Home

فرحة العيد في الغربة... وحنينٌ لا يغيب للوطن

بمناسبة عيد الفطر المبارك، اجتمعت الجالية اليمنية في لندن وضواحيها في لمة مميزة نظّمها مركز غرب لندن الإسلامي الثقافي (WLICC)، لإقامة صلاة العيد وفعاليات احتفالية في حديقة إيل بروك كومون – Eel Brook Common Park.

رغم بعد المسافة عن أرضنا الحبيبة، ظل اليمن حاضرًا في قلوبنا — في وجوه الأطفال، وفي نكهة القهوة، وفي ضحكات الأمهات وهم يوزّعن الحلوى.
اجتمعنا في صباح يوم العيد على الفرح، والألفة، والمحبة. تبادلنا التهاني، وتشاركنا الطعام، وامتلأت الساحة بأصوات الأطفال وبهجة اللقاء.

✨ بدأت الفعالية بأداء صلاة العيد في جو من الخشوع والسكينة، ثم انطلقت الفعاليات التي شملت:

🎪 ألعاب للأطفال أضفت على الأجواء حيوية ومرحًا

🥘 مأكولات يمنية شهية أعدّها أفراد من الجالية بكل حب

🍭 حلويات العيد التي تبادلناها بفرح

🥇 مسابقات ممتعة جمعت الكبار والصغار

🐴 ركوب الخيل الذي كان من أجمل لحظات الأطفال

لقد حرص الجميع على إحضار سجادة الصلاة الخاصة بهم، وكذلك على المشاركة بطبق من الطعام أو الحلوى، لتتحول المائدة إلى لوحة غنية بروح العطاء والتكافل.

وبين ضحكات الأطفال، ورائحة القهوة اليمنية، وكلمات الدعاء، عادت إلينا لحظات من اليمن الجميل، حتى ولو كنا على أرض بعيدة.
لقد كانت المناسبة أكثر من مجرد احتفال، كانت لحظة وطنٍ مصغّر في المهجر.

ورغم الفرح، لم يغب عنا الحنين... فالغربة مهما طالت، لا تُنسي دفء الأهل، ولا تُعوّض عن لحظة العودة لتراب الوطن.
نسأل الله أن يُعيدنا إلى بلادنا سالمين، وأن يمنّ على اليمن بالأمن والاستقرار، وأن يجمع شمل أهله ويبدلهم من بعد العسر يُسرًا، ومن بعد الحزن فرحًا.

The Joy of Eid in Exile... and a Longing That Never Fades for Home

On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the Yemeni community in London and surrounding areas gathered for a special event organized by the West London Islamic Cultural Centre (WLICC) to hold Eid prayers and festive activities at Eel Brook Common Park.

Despite the distance from our beloved homeland, Yemen remained alive in our hearts — in the faces of the children, in the aroma of the coffee, and in the laughter of the mothers as they shared sweets.

We came together on the morning of Eid in joy, unity, and love. We exchanged greetings, shared food, and the park was filled with the cheerful sounds of children and the warmth of reunion.

✨ The event began with Eid prayer, performed in a serene and spiritual atmosphere, followed by a variety of activities including:

🎪 Children’s games that brought liveliness and joy to the day
🥘 Delicious Yemeni dishes lovingly prepared by community members
🍭 Eid sweets that we happily shared
🥇 Fun competitions that brought together both young and old
🐴 Horse rides — one of the most delightful moments for the children

Everyone made sure to bring their own prayer mats, and many brought a dish or dessert to share, turning the gathering into a rich display of generosity and community spirit.

Amid the children’s laughter, the aroma of Yemeni coffee, and the words of heartfelt prayers, we relived beautiful moments of Yemen — even while standing on foreign soil.
The event was more than just a celebration; it was a miniature homeland in exile.

And despite the joy, the longing never left us... For no matter how long the exile, it can never replace the warmth of family or the moment our feet touch the soil of our homeland again.

We pray that Allah reunites us with our land in peace, restores security and stability to Yemen, brings its people together, and replaces their hardships with ease and their sorrow with joy.
